Classes Spring term 2021

In the Spring term 2021, suzalingua will continue to offer both virtual and face-to-face courses to meet our students’ varying needs and wishes.

Our number one priority is the health and well-being of our students, so the following policies will be put in place at suzalingua:

  • Due to physical distancing measures, a maximum of three students are allowed to be present in physical classes.
  • The classroom will be arranged to ensure that the required distance can be maintained.
  • Handwashing facilities and hand sanitiser will be at the students’ disposal.
  • All surfaces that people are in contact with will be disinfected after each class.

Beginners’ Level

Beginners’ Course (Level A1), classroom, part 2:

  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total

This beginners’ course is aimed at students who have very little or no previous knowledge of Norwegian. The course provides a practical introduction to the Norwegian language. We work with basic grammar, pronunciation and everyday language use.

We will continue working with God i norsk 1 where we left off in chapter 3.

Price:  5 400 kr  per person

Beginners’ Course (Level A1), classroom, part 4:
  • Thursdays, kl. 11:00 to 12:30
  • Course start: Thursday, 8. April 2021
  • Last Course day: Thursday, 17. June 2021

  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total

This beginners’ course is aimed at students who have an elementary knowledge of Norwegian. The course provides a practical introduction to the Norwegian language. We focus on the most important grammar foundations, vocabulary building and everyday conversation.

We will continue working with God i norsk 1, starting with chapter six.

Price:  5 400 kr  per person

Beginners’ Course (Level A1) online, part 6:
  • online meeting time to be arranged in the group
  • Course start: week 21 (first group session 1. June)
  • Duration: 5 weeks
  • 2 online sessions per week
  • Maximum 6 students – this course is full

The sixth part of the beginners’ course is aimed at students who have a basic knowledge of Norwegian. The course provides a practical introduction to the Norwegian language, focusing on elementary grammar, reading, vocabulary and everyday language use.

We continue working with God i norsk where we left off in chapter 9.

The course is held online, with two meetings every week. The details of when online sessions take place will arranged with the participants.

Intermediate Level

Lower Intermediate Course (Level A2):
  • Fridays, kl. 10:30 to 12:00
  • Course start: Friday 9. April 2021
  • Last Course day: Friday, 18. June 2021

  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total

This upper lower intermediate course is aimed at students who have acquired Norwegian skills at level A1 and have previously worked on A2. This corresponds to having completed På vei up to chapter 12 (or an equivalent course book).

We focus on speaking and writing about personal and more general topics, reading simple texts, and using grammatical structures correctly. We will continue working with past tense verb forms, adjective forms and sentence structure.

We will be using På vei, starting where we left off in chapter 13.

Intermediate Course (Level B1), online:
  • online meeting time to be decided with participants
  • Course start in week 14
  • Duration: 10 weeks
  • 2 online sessions per week
  • Maximum 6 students

This course is aimed at students with a good foundation in Norwegian, corresponding to the completion of levels A1 and A2 (having finished På vei or God i norsk 1 or an equivalent course book).

In this course, we build on the knowledge you acquired in previous levels and strengthen your understanding of Norwegian grammar. You learn to be more independent when communicating in Norwegian by practicing oral skills in a variety of context. We also continue working on written production and practice listening skills.

We will continue working with God i norsk 2, starting at chapter 5.

Price:  4 800 kr  per person

Upper Intermediate Course (Level B1/B2), exam preparation:
  • Tuesdays, kl. 13:30 to 15:00
  • Course start: Tuesday, 6. April 2021
  • Last Course day: Tuesday, 15. June 2021

  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total
  • Maximum 5 students – just one place left

This course is aimed at students with an intermediate level of Norwegian, who have already completed most or all of B1 level.

At this level, we continue strengthening your knowledge of grammar and work on using the language more spontaneously and fluently. The aim is to be able to communicate with native speakers with confidence and ease.

The course also consists of listening exercises, written composition, short oral presentations and homework.

This course is particularly suitable for students who aim to take the B1/B2 norskprøve.

Advanced Level

Advanced Course (Level B2/C1), classroom:
  • Wednesdays, kl. 10:00 to 11:30
  • Course start: Wednesday, 14. April 2021
  • Last Course day: Wednesday, 23. June 2021

  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total
  • Maximum 5 students

This course is open to students who have an advanced knowledge of Norwegian, corresponding to level B1/B2. You have completed Stein på Stein and may have worked with Her på Berget before.

There will be a strong emphasis on vocabulary building and nuances in expression (pragmatics), in addition to reviewing and strengthening the grammar seen in lower levels. Reading contemporary Norwegian literature is another core element of this course, and we will practice our oral skills based on discussions of different types of text. We will also work with written production of various text types.

The long-term aim of this course is to prepare students for Bergenstesten or an equivalent exam.
