Beginners’ Level

Beginners’ Course, Part 1:

This ten-week beginners’ course is aimed at students with little or no previous knowledge of Norwegian. It provides a comprehensive and practical introduction to the Norwegian language, with particular emphasis on pronunciation, basic grammar and everyday language use.

Price:  5 250 kr  per person

Beginners’ Course, Part 5:
  • Fridays, kl. 10:30 to 12:00
  • Course start: Friday, 17. January 2020
  • Last Course day: Friday, 20. March 2020
  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total

This fifth part of the beginners’ course is aimed at students with a basic knowledge of Norwegian, corresponding to the first six chapters of På vei. We continue working with sentence stucture, differenct verb forms, adjectives and everyday language use.

We continue working with På vei where we left off in chapter seven.

“Bring your Baby” Beginners’ Course, Part 6:
  • Tuesdays, kl. 10:30 to 12:00
  • Course start: Tuesday, 14. January 2020
  • Last course day: Tuesday, 17. March 2020
  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total
  • Maximum 5 students

This course is primarily intended for students who would like to bring their baby to class, but open to anyone if there is space. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the Norwegian language; we will deepen your understanding of grammar aspects like adjective forms and verb tenses, and there will be a particular focus and practical language use.

The sixth part of the course is aimed at students who have already taken courses to cover the basics of the Norwegian language, corresponding to level A1. We continue working with God i norsk, starting with chapter 9.

Intermediate Level

Lower Intermediate Course:
  • Wednesdays, kl. 13:30 to 15:00
  • Course start: Wednesday, 15. January 2020
  • Last Course day: Wednesday, 18. March 2020
  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total

This course is aimed at students with a good foundation in Norwegian, corresponding to the completion of level A1 and most of A2. It provides a comprehensive and practical introduction to the Norwegian language, with particular emphasis on central aspects of grammar and practical language use.

We will revise important grammar from the last chapters of På vei, and build vocabulary based on texts both from På vei and other text books.

“Bring your Baby” Intermediate Course, Part 3:
  • Tuesdays, kl. 13:30 to 15:00
  • Course start: Tuesday, 14. January 2020
  • Last Course day: Tuesday, 17. March 2020
  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total
  • Maximum 5 students – This course is full

This course is aimed at students with a good foundation in Norwegian, corresponding to the completion of level A1 and A2 (the equivalent of having finished På vei or God i norsk 1). We will revise and deepen your understanding of Norwegian grammar, and work on vocabulary building and increasing your confidence in conversation.

We will continue working with God i norsk 2, starting where we stopped in chapter 3.

This course is intended for students who would like to bring their baby to class, but open to anyone if there is space.

Advanced Level

Advanced Course (open level):
  • Wednesdays, kl. 10:00 to 11:30
  • Course start: Wednesday, 15. January 2020
  • Last Course day: Wednesday, 18. March 2020
  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 lessons/session, 20 lessons in total
  • Maximum 5 students – This course is full

This course is open to students who have an advanced knowledge of Norwegian, corresponding to level B1/B2. You have completed Stein på Stein and have maybe worked with Her på Berget before.

There will be a strong emphasis on vocabulary building and nuances in expression (pragmatics), in addition to reviewing and strengthening the grammar seen in lower levels. Reading contemporary Norwegian literature is another core element of this course, and we will practice our oral skills based on discussions of different types of text. We will also work with written production of various text types.

The long-term aim of this course is to prepare students for Bergenstesten or an equivalent exam.
